Barry Sanders Was The Most Exciting Running Back Of All Time
The most exciting running back of all time was Barry Sanders. Out of Oklahoma State, the hapless Detroit Lions under the guide of then Coach Wayne Fontes were poised to become a very contending team with the drafting of such a fantastic rookie runner. He had plenty of speed….gamebreaking speed. He could stop on a dime, pick it up, and give you change. He could make 7 players miss him and look silly doing it. His leg strength and low center of gravity with wide foot placement made him a pinball on the football field. To watch him was like watching art in motion. Some say that his drawback was that he would dance around before he found anything to dart through and lose yardage before he broke one of for 70 yards and a touchdown. But you would too if you didn’t have a fullback or an offensive line that could open holes for him to go through. But with that in mind he was humble. A team player who never spiked the football. One who gave the ball to the refs and modestly ran off the field to the sidelines. What a player. He cut his career short because he did not have the support that he should have had for the Lions to become a great team. He has drifted out of the limelight. He was very special.
