Texas gets “nutty” on youth sports

Published by peterj at 6:59 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

From the locals that live there, “Everything is bigger in Texas!”, is a true statement. That even includes the heads of the ones that like to think that the best amateur football is played in Texas. For the most part, the ONLY sport is seems that is played in Texas is football, and those that don’t get “on-board” with that program are “losers”. High school football in Texas gets all the attention, the money, and the coaches that  believe that they can do anything. Roll out the red carpet and put the crowns on the coaches that win championships. Because if you can’t win a championship….you’re out. Winning in Texas is everything. Playing football in Texas for love of the sport, experience, enjoyment, and sportsmanship is out. And if you are a parent, you better jump in with both feet…all the way. If you don’t, then you are not doing enough for the program. Get it together bub! What is said in Texas is “Football, God, Family”, is pretty much a true statement.
